École V at Château de Pommard

École V at Château de Pommard

POMMARD, FRANCE (8th October 2018) – Château de Pommard opens its wine and spirits school: École V. This school has been the destined next step for Vanessa Guébels, WSET certified trainer and new director of École V, who has developed the education program at Château de Pommard.

“I have always been passionate about wine. Growing up in a small Champagne area, I realized very early that wine was more than just a drink. It touches on everything from science to history, geography to gastronomy and even the art of living. When I decided to follow my passion, it seemed essential to be able to share it in the best possible context. With École V, I have been given the opportunity to teach in such an idyllic place. A place where the teaching goes beyond the content of the books. You can speak to the winemaker and walk amongst the vines . “ Comments Vanessa.

École V: a school that links history and modernity
The Château choose École V, as a tribute to Vivant Micault, who founded the Château in 1726. The letter makes the link between history and modernity.
With this modernist and refined approach the school breaks with the traditional “École du Vin” or “École des Vins” and aims to increase the number of oenophiles around the world by making the knowledge of wines accessible to all.

School V: anchored in the heart of Burgundy
Discover, learn and taste in this UNESCO World Heritage deemed Clos, whose vineyards have been biodynamic since 2014.
École V combines an innovative educational program in collaboration with the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), all to be experienced in the heart of the Château de Pommard vineyard. More than a school, École V offers an immersion in the daily life of a vineyard.

School V: three levels of training
École V offers three levels of training, from WSET 1 to WSET 3, available in French and English. These levels combine theoretical classes, tasting sessions and observation in the vineyard. With a global approach that aims to discover the main wine regions of the world, École V pays particular attention to Burgundy and offers courses dedicated to the region and its wines in partnership with the Burgundy Wine Board (BIVB) . WSET has trained and certified the best professionals around the world.

École V is aimed at wine professionals, wine lovers and those wishing to engage in professional wine reconversion.

About Château de Pommard and Famille Carabello-Baum

Founded in 1726 by Vivant Micault, secretary to King Louis XV, Château de Pommard remains one of the most iconic and visited wine estates in Burgundy. Clos Marey-Monge, at the heart of the domain, has been producing one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir for more than two millennia. The 20-hectare clay and limestone rich terroir make it the largest and most interesting monopole in the Côte d’Or. In July 2015, UNESCO declared the clos a world heritage protected Climat of Burgundy. The Carabello-Baum family of San Francisco purchased the domain in 2014 and became just the fifth family to guide the estate in almost 300 years. The family has transformed the estate into the ultimate wine education destination where anyone can experience the phenomenon that is Burgundy.
