The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines includes 32.5 hours of classroom training delivered by one of our WSET-certified educators and 60 hours of self-study using the WSET textbook and study guide. The program takes place over two consecutive weeks, with 2 to 3 days of training per week.
Classes take place from 9 am to 5 pm, including lunch breaks, study time, and the exam. During each session with your educator, the class will use presentations, discussions, and tastings to tackle the key points presented in the teaching material. You will taste 65 wines from the main wine-producing regions of France, Europe, and the New World.
Sessions are limited to 14 students in Pommard and in Paris.
Once your registration for a session is validated, you’ll receive your course materials, which include a textbook, a study guide, self-assessment exercises, and a summary sheet of the Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®. The program includes presentations, discussions, and visual aids, as well as guided tastings and self-assessment exercises. The educator will answer your questions and encourage dynamic and interactive exchanges.
The exam takes place on the last afternoon of the course. Unit 1 includes 50 multiple-choice questions and four short-answer questions. Unit 2 consists of a blind tasting of two wines where you need to describe the wines and analyse their quality. To pass, you must validate 55% of the questions in each unit. Your result will be emailed to you about 8 weeks after the course. Your certificate and pin will then be mailed to you. You can retake one or both units for a fee of 100 euros each.
This course is intended for anyone over 18, but we recommend that you hold the WSET Level 2 in Wines or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience in wine. For more information, please download the WSET Level 3 in Wines Specifications.
