Chardonnay Capital of the World

Pommard, Ladoix, and Volnay — the gateway to Côte de Beaune is an indisputable land of Pinot Noir. With ideal soils and exposure to the sun, the distinct terroirs of the Côte de Beaune are a perfect fit for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Yet, further south, Chardonnay shines and has given the region its place in winemaking history. From the village of Santenay to the slopes of the Hill of Corton, Côte de Beaune is home to the grandest white wines. Eight Grands Crus take root in this 20-kilometer-long region, along with numerous lesser-known appellations that are very much worth exploring.
