About Drinks Business’ Masters competitions

The Global Masters marks a distinct change in the way wine is judged. For the first time, preconceived notions of the importance of location are pushed aside, allowing wines from across the globe to be judged purely on style and price.
All Masters competition – whether regional or global – are judged blind by some of the finest palates in the world acting as judges. Only the best competing wines are awarded medals, ranging from Bronze through to Gold and, for exceptional example, the title of Master.
Although The Global Masters was only launched in 2013, the tasting competition, encompassing styles from rosé to sparkling, and varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, has become the biggest awards programme by The Drinks Business, the world’s leading magazine for the wine and spirits trade.
