Château de Pommard releases 2017 Clos Marey-Monge vintages and alongside the Clos Marey-Monge Experience

Château de Pommard has three simple ambitions: to always work in harmony with the laws of nature, maintain a hands-off approach and let the vintage do all the talking. Year after year, Château de Pommard releases its signature wine: the Clos Marey-Monge Monopole, a blend of seven cuvées made from seven distinct terroirs -Simone, Chantrerie, Les Paules, Grands Champs, 75 Rangs, Micault and Émilie. This year, with the 2017 vintages, Château de Pommard takes a new step towards representing the purest expression of Burgundy by releasing new Clos Marey-Monge distinct cuvées, produced from a specific terroir. From Clos Marey-Monge “Grands Champs” 2017 to Clos Marey-Monge “Les Paules” 2017, five elegant wines will be launched for the occasion, along with the amazing Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2017.

The 2017 vintage can be experienced at Château de Pommard throughout the “Clos Marey-Monge Experience”, which starts on the 1st of August. Visitors will experience the six wines and discover the influence of the distinct soils on the cuvées. Guests will also experiment with the art of blending to create their very own wine.

Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2017

With its bright and intense ruby colour lined with crimson reflections, Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2017 is a complex, generous and flavourful Pinot Noir; the complexity of which comes from the vineyard’s soil, enriched with alluvial, sand and gravels carried along by the Avant-Dheune river thousand years ago. The nose displays aromas of powder and red fruits, as well as notes of smokiness, all bringing great complexity to the wine. The palate is fresh, revealing firm tannins and a well-rounded structure. Long and sapid while aerial, the finale unveils a vibrant, energetic, and complex Pommard drinkable today, but also ageable for decades.

Clos Marey-Monge “Grands Champs” 2017

Known to bring body and structure to the Clos Marey-Monge Monopole blend, Grands Champs is a high-quality Pinot Noir enjoyable on its own. With an intense ruby colour and exuberant nose of red fruits, sandalwood and sweet spices such as cinnamon and cloves, it is a full-bodied and tannic red wine. The tannins of which are enhanced by the rocky, calcium-rich soil of the Grand Champs terroir. Its long finale displays notes of minerality, bringing an elegant touch to this robust cuvée.
