Simone 2015: The Vintage of a Lifetime

Château de Pommard Releases New Vintage of Limited Edition Cuvée

POMMARD, FRANCE – Famille Carabello-Baum is thrilled to announce the arrival of the famed cuvée, Simone 2015. Born to a complex terroir of only half a hectare in size within the 20-hectare Clos Marey-Monge – Burgundy’s largest monopole vineyard – Simone’s succulent taste of allure and seduction is a breathtaking icon that embodies the divine magic of Burgundy.

Simone is the heart and soul of Clos Marey-Monge, featuring clay soils with an internal surface structure of more than 735 m2 per gram – some of the highest ever recorded in Burgundy and comparable only to the Grand Cru vineyards in Richebourg and Musigny. Simone is sacred ground, and the team at Château de Pommard affords her the attention she deserves, horse-plowing her soils, hand-picking her grapes and aging her wine for an extended duration of 22 to 28 months.

“The purest expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir, the 2015 vintage of Simone is astonishing,” said Gérard Margeon, Chef Sommelier Executif of Groupe Alain Ducasse. “It’s all here – aromatic complexity, subtle textures and an endless elegance that commands your immediate attention. I enjoyed every drop.”

The annual release of just 1,800 bottles is available for customers and the trade by allocation only.

“Simone reveals the very soul of our domain, and we are incredibly fortunate to have our first official harvest result in such a vibrant cuvée,” commented Michael Baum, CEO & Propriétaire of Famille Carabello-Baum. “Simone 2015 is what we all live for – it is truly the vintage of a lifetime.”

About Famille Carabello-Baum and Château de Pommard

For almost three centuries, the winemaking families of Château de Pommard have left their indelible footprints in the soil. From the Micaults, the first family of Pommard, to the Marey-Monges, the most influential dynasty in all of Burgundy, and now Famille Carabello-Baum, has the honor of guiding the estate forward into the future. Clos Marey-Monge, at the heart of the domain, has been producing one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir for more than two millennia. In July 2015, UNESCO declared the Clos a world heritage protected Climat of Burgundy. The seven clay and limestone rich terroir of Clos Marey-Monge make it the largest and most interesting monopole in the Côte d’Or. But, Château de Pommard is more than just a winery. It is a lifestyle. It’s a place to slow down, reconnect with the wonders of nature, walk among the vines and fall in love with life. For more information, visit www.chateaudepommard.com.
