Six Scholarships Awarded by
Château de Pommard

In memory of Jérôme Aucourt, Château de Pommard will provide six scholarships per year, three in French and three in English, starting in 2020.

For 15 years, Jérôme Aucourt introduced wine to thousands of people from around the world at Château de Pommard. He was a passionate wine lover and a key pillar in our team at Château de Pommard. With the purpose of helping people who share his passion for wine through education, leadership, and professional development, we decided to launch this scholarship. The aim is to annually award wine passionate people with education, resources and opportunities to thrive in this competitive industry. These scholarships are equivalent to our WSET course fees.

Applicants must specify in their Scholarship Application which level and language they are applying to.

Level 1 Award in Wines in French and in English
Level 2 Award in Wines in French and in English
Level 3 Award in Wines in French and in English

Level 1 Award in wines Application

A beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine.

For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You will explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, as well as making food and wine pairings. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

To apply, you will need to provide following:

• Candidate information

• Essay
• Two letters of recommendation

Level 2 Award in Wines Application

This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

You will gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

Level 3 Award in Wines Application

An advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts.

For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo. Please note that you need to hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines to apply to this scholarship.
