Le Mois des Climats, or Climate Month, is a month-long festival of events celebrating Burgundy’s 2015 UNESCO World Heritage accolade for the region’s 1,247 climats and their Exceptional Universal Value.

Whatever your Summer plans are – cancel them and come to celebrate the climats of Burgundy and the 80th birthday of the Route des Grands Crus.

From June 10th to July 10th, the Climats Bourgogne Association is partnering up with domaines large and small throughout Burgundy to host a feast of events, wine education, sporting event, lectures, exhibitions, tastings and festivals to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Route des Grands Crus, and the rest of the region.

Climats: Burgundy’s 1,247 climats became UNESCO-protected in 2015

Le Mois des Climats is an event very close to our heart at Château de Pommard. As Grand Sponsor, or Grand Mécène, the UNESCO World Heritage Protection accolade for Exceptional Universal Value in 2015 ; the 1,247 climats of Burgundy, of which Clos Marey-Monge is one, is a honor we hold dear. To honor this phenomenal UNESCO achievement, Château de Pommard now offers a wine education experience that focuses on Burgundy’s Climats. For more information on this wine experience, check out our dedicated website page, /climats.

World Heritage Site: Clos Marey-Monge is one of the Burgundy climats protected by UNESCO

There are more than 60 events over the course of the four weeks. Check out Le Mois des Climats (website link below) for more information on each event. One of the most frequently asked questions our Wine Advisors get asked on a Wine Experience at the Château is what wine pairs well with Mustard. Many of our guests have come to Burgundy for a taste sensation not only of the fine wine on offer, but the famous Dijon mustard that originates at the capital of Burgundy ; and grown all around the vineyards, their beautiful neon yellow bloom juxtaposed brilliantly with the deep green of the vines.

On July 2nd, Moutarderie Fallot, located just down the road from Château de Pommard, in Beaune, answers the question: What is the link between mustard and terroir? A visit to this famous Burgundy Mustard house will reveal the history of Mustard in the region, offer delectable tastings of their mustard range and is only a short walk from the centre of Beaune ; should you wish to cleanse your palate with a glass of wine. Thoroughly recommended.

Top Mustard: Beaune’s most popular Moutarderie is the place to be for all your mustard needs

A trip to the picturesque village of Concoeur is always worth the journey through the countryside behind Beaune. Ferme Fruirouge, an organic farmhouse tucked away on the top of a hill, offers delicious syrups ; both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, to spice up Cremant, Champagne and fruit juices. Owned by the friendly husband and wife team, Sylvain and Isabelle Olivier, a stop at Ferme Fruirouge will showcase the best of the local fruit produce and offers something different for those in need of a break from the wine. There are many wine-related events during Le Mois des Climats, but only one non-wine related event. And it’s throughly worth every sip!

Picturesque: Located at the heart of Concoeur, Sylvain and Isabelle’s farmhouse is as cute you would think an organic syrup shop in Burgundy would be
