Behind its intense and deep ruby color, our Chantrerie 2017 hides a nose full of floral and red fruit aromas, embodying the feminine side of Pommard wines. The palate reveals dense and silky tannins, as well as vibrant energy and fresh acidity, enhanced by a long, salty, and mineral finale. Full-bodied and definitely elegant, this Pinot Noir will age gracefully for decades to come.

Some of the oldest vines in Clos Marey-Monge, Chantrerie’s 2.41 hectares of marly-clay soils produce a dark , rich and deep Pinot Noir with a sweet palette. Known as the spirit of our vineyard, this old Lady benefits from one of the largest internal surfaces of clay in the Côte d’Or, worthy of a Grand Cru, just behind Simone’s record.

Hand-harvested grapes, hand-sorted on a vibrating table. 100% de-stemmed, placed into stainless steel fermentation vats by gravity flow. Weeks-long maceration, minimal pumping-over and punching-down. Pressing in pneumatic press. Placed in French oak barrels for aging on fine lees. Not filtered.

“A pale ruby color with garnet reflections. The nose, initially quite discreet, opens with further oxygenation showing notes of smoke, kirsch-soaked cherries, cloves and green peppercorns. The palate is rich, powerful and savory with a pleasant touch of sweetness all structured with firm, yet well rounded tannins. The finish is savory and persistent.”
The largest monopole in Burguny, Clos Marey‑Monge is a collection of different micro-climates and soil types. Each of our seven terroirs – Simone, Les Paules, Grands Champs, Chantrerie, 75 Rangs, Micault, and Émilie – is a different composition of limestone, iron-rich clay, alluvium and other minerals essential to Pinot Noir.
