Our 20 hectare vineyard is Burgundy’s
largest privately-owned Clos.
We call it home.

150 Million Years of History

Clos Marey-Monge sits on top of the Avant-Dheune Valley dejection cone, a geological structure that allows even greater Pinot Noir growing conditions to flourish. The cherished terroir of Pommard, and its 27 identified climats, have been cultivated and carefully preserved for thousands of years by the many protectors of the land. But it is the 150 million year history of the earth and dirt beneath these famed soils that has contributed most to Clos Marey-Monge’s enduring popularity.

Paris to Pommard – It's Not Far!

The next stop south from Beaune, the heart of Burgundy, Pommard is located close to the center of the Côte d’Or. With its mosaic of celebrated sun-soaked south-east facing vineyards and captivating sights, smells and sounds all year round, the village of Pommard is surrounded by ageless, timeless beauty. At it’s heart, is Château de Pommard.

We're All About Terroir

The seven terroir of Clos Marey-Monge are remarkable multi-stratas of iron-rich clay and limestone and provide our 200,000 vines with all the diversity and strength they require to turn dirt into something truly delectable.

The soul of Clos Marey-Monge, Simone's terroir has one of Burgundy's highest recorded clay densities.

Home to many of the vineyard's century-old vines, Chantrerie is proof that with old age comes wisdom.

Planted in 1942, Les Paules’ is divided into two plots: Paules Jeune and Paules Vieilles.

Planted in 1982, and occupying one-quarter of the vineyard, Grand Champ adds the backbone to our wines' complex flavor structure.

It may be hidden in Grand Champ's shadow, but 75 Rangs' sublime soils are still undeniably unique.

Clos Marey-Monge’s youngest vines breath the spirit of vitality into our vintages of Vivant Micault.

After 60 years of dedicated service, Émilie was replanted in March 2017. We expect great things from her in the very near future...

Celebrated Classifications

It was Professor Jules Lavalle’s most celebrated work, The History and Statistics of the Great Wines of the Côte d’Or, published in 1855, that forever changed how Burgundy winemakers perceived the earth beneath their feet.

In Sync with the Seasons

Clos Marey-Monge is in perfect symbiosis with the four seasons. Throughout the year, the vineyard is a revolving door of earthly colors – brown, green, gold, red – a daily reminder that Clos Marey-Monge is alive with life and purpose.

Deep Roots in Wine

For centuries, dating back to the era of the Dukes of Burgundy, the Micaults, and the Marey-Monge dynasty, the co-ordinates of Clos Marey-Monge have long been considered a beacon for the international affection for Pommard wine. Our historic vineyard has laid deep roots in the village, roots that will forever stretch across Burgundy. As we look to the future, we remain proud of our heritage and look forward to creating even more history…
