POMMARD, FRANCE (November 28th, 2019) – Following the success of its first location in Burgundy, Vanessa Guébels – Wine Education Director, Château de Pommard and Famille Carabello-Baum are proud to announce the opening of a new WSET program provider in Paris. École V combines the innovative WSET program together with hands-on knowledge and experience that comes only from winemakers themselves.
“When I studied the WSET Level 3 in Paris, I remember being in a large classroom with more than 25 students, learning from people that had no real experience making wine, and tasting wines that were not up to my expectations. I later learned only a few of my classmates passed the exam. At École V we combine smaller class sizes (no more than 14 students per session), our 300 years of experience producing fine wines, and terroir-driven organic and biodynamic wines to train your palate.” Vanessa Guébels, Director of Wine Education.
École V: a unique sensory learning experience
Starting January 2020, the WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 programs will be offered in central Paris–in both English and French. The programs combine self-study, classroom time, and hands-on tasting sessions to master the Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT). With a global approach to discover the main wine regions of the world, École V pays particular attention to Burgundy. Deeply rooted in Château de Pommard’s “Made By Nature” philosophy selected by Vanessa Guébels herself, from distinctive wineries to offer a remarkable tasting and learning experience.
École V is for wine professionals, wine lovers and people who want to engage in the wine profession.
“We have a student pass rate exceeding 90%. Our ultimate goal is to liberate wine education and make it available to amateurs and professionals who share our passion for this magical world of wine.” Vanessa Guébels.
The École V programs are designed for a broad range of eager learners. Level 1 is for beginners–with a six hour introduction to the world of wine. Level 2 is an intermediate self study and 18-hours in-class session focusing on a deeper dive into the wine regions of the world and an introduction to the Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT). Level 3 is an advanced qualification with self study and 32 hours of in-class session including a rigorous SAT program with 86 wines to taste.
Finally, as part of Château de Pommard’s philanthropic mission, the estate announces the arrival of its “Jérôme Aucourt” scholarship, dedicated to support passionate wine lovers as they enter the WSET program of École V in Pommard. Each year, students can submit their application and Château de Pommard Scholarship Selection Committee will then grant six students this award.
