The stony soils of Puligny-Montrachet, located between Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, are widely known for full-bodied and intense Chardonnays that have been sought after for centuries. Rising between 230 and 320 meters above sea level, the southeast exposures are protected from the winds by the Montrachet slopes.
This is the Puligny-Montrachet you’ve been looking for. A clear lemon color, fused with a golden hue, blooms into view inside your glass. A pronounced intensity of aromas of white flowers, peaches, pineapple and a distinctive minerality – chalk and wet stones – are present. Swirl in the mouth – the wine is dry with a distinct acidity, alcohol, and body. A creamy, velvety texture complements the smooth and persistent finish. This Puligny-Montrachet defines the essence of the appellation’s acclaimed mineral-edged terroir and rewards every sip with a generous concentration and complexity of aromas, balanced with a refreshing acidity, a feature that rewards the wine with a longer potential for ageng, developing more complexity with time.
Complex and mineral
Behind its pale lemon color, Puligny-Montrachet 2017 shows a nose full of aromas of acacia and green apples, lined with notes of honeysuckle and flint. The palate confirms these flavors and reveals a well-rounded wine with good acidity. The finish is long and clean with a mineral edge, adding to the complexity of the wine.
A generous year
2017 began the best possible way, with a sunny and warm spring and no threats of hail or frost. Bud break happened at the beginning of April, soon followed by blooming. Summer was marked by scorching episodes, pushing maturation forward. Harvest started over the last days of August, two weeks earlier than usual, and lasted until mid-September. With healthy, ripe grapes and yields back to normal, 2017 has since proven its high-quality and long-lasting potential.
