The Emerald City

Between the acclaimed wine-growing terrain on the Hill of Corton and the city of Beaune, the landscape of Savigny-Lés-Beaune unfolds before your eyes rather magnificently. The appellation’s vines, planted between 250 and 400 metres above sea level, dig their heels into sandy and calcareous soils. While only 13 per cent of the wines produced here are white – roughly 45 hectares, or twice the size of Clos Marey-Monge –  what this Chardonnay lacks in numbers more than makes up for in quality reputation. Renowned for its straightforward approach to vitality, a dazzling emerald glow, a flowery bouquet and a most-satisfying finish, this Savigny-Lés-Beaune is a guaranteed conversation starter.
