2018 Global Pinot Noir Masters – Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2015

Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2015: Silver Medal

In February, esteemed drinks trade publication The Drinks Business announced the results of its popular and prestigious Global Pinot Noir Masters 2018. This event recognizes and rewards the greatest Pinot Noirs in the world.

Judged blind by a panel of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers ; arguably some of the highest calibre super tasters around, therefore guaranteeing international fame and fortune for all winning wines ; the Pinot Noirs that are considered the most excellent receive Bronze, Silver and Gold medals.

Our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2015 was awarded the Silver Medal.

This year’s judges were a stellar bunch of tastebuds too, with palates that are no doubt hard to please:

  • Alistair Nicoll MW
  • Patrick Schmitt MW
  • Tobias Gorn
  • Nicola Thomson
  • Keith Isaac MW
  • Patricia Stefanowicz
  • David Round MW
  • Emma Symington MW
  • Roberto della Pietra
  • Jonathan Pedley MW

We thank you, one and all, for the Silver Medal.

About the Global Pinot Noir Masters 2018

In a crowded wine-competition arena, the drinks business Global Pinot Noir Masters stands out for its assessment of wines purely by grape variety rather than by region. Divided only by price bracket and, for ease of judging, style too, the blind-tasting format allowed wines to be assessed without prejudice about their country of origin.

The best wines were awarded medals that ranged from Bronze through to Gold, as well as Master, the ultimate accolade, given only to exceptional wines in the tasting.

The wines were judged by a cherry-picked group of Masters of Wine and senior buyers on 7 February at Bumpkin in London’s South Kensington.

Full results will be published in the June edition of The Drinks Business. More details about all the Global Masters Wine competitions can be found on the Global Masters website.
