2019 Global Pinot Noir Masters – Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016

Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016: Gold Medal

In March 2019, esteemed drinks trade publication The Drinks Business announced the results of its popular and prestigious Global Pinot Noir Masters 2019. Now in its fifth year, the event recognizes and rewards the greatest Pinot Noirs in the world.

Judged blind by a panel of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers, arguably some of the highest calibre super tasters around, therefore guaranteeing international fame and fortune for all winning wines ; the Pinot Noirs that are considered the most excellent receive Bronze, Silver and Gold medals.

In all the judges awarded 59 Silver medals and 26 Golds in a field of almost 200 wines. Naturally, Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016 won the Gold Medal.

About the Global Pinot Noir Masters 2019

The Global Masters, a wine tasting competition run by The Drinks Business, identifies the finest examples of specific grape varieties or regions in a series of tastings judged by Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and other top palates in the UK. Its latest round, the Pinot Noir Masters, whose results will be published in May, yielded some surprising results, including medals for Pinot Noirs from Moldova and Slovenia. The judges were very positive in their comments on the 2019 competition.
