École V offers a one-day wine introduction for beginners that culminates in the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines certification. You will discover the basic types and styles of wine through their appearance, nose, and palate while developing the skills to accurately describe wine and find the right food-and-wine pairings.

The Course Organization

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines consists of a 6-hour course with a WSET®-certified educator. The course lasts one day, from 9 am to 5 pm, including a lunch break, study time, and the exam.

You will study the elements presented in the study materials and taste 14 wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting®. Sessions are limited to 14 students.

The Teaching Resources

A booklet containing the essential points covered during the course, tasting grids, and exercises will be given to you on arrival. The program includes presentations, discussions, and visual aids, as well as guided tastings and self-assessment exercises to let you explore the world of wine.
 

Evaluation And Certification

A 45-minute final exam will take place from 4:15 pm to 5 pm. To obtain your certification, you must answer 70% of the 30 multiple-choice questions correctly. You will receive your results by email about 8 weeks after your exam date. Your certificate and pin will then be mailed to you. You can resit the exam for a fee of 80 euros if you do not pass.

What are the requirements to enter the course?

This course is intended for anyone over 18 who wants to discover the world of wine and learn its basics. No preparation is required for the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Sessions are scheduled on the weekends. Sessions are offered in the heart of Pommard, in French and in English. 

Registrations close 3 days prior to the start date of the session or when full capacity is reached.

This course is no longer eligible for CPF funding.
