The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is designed for those who already have some basic knowledge of wine and wish to acquire a solid foundation in wine tasting and reinforce their understanding of wine styles around the world. It is suitable for wine lovers and those who wish to start a career in wine.

At the end of your training, you will be able to recognize the different styles of wine produced from the main grape varieties, read labels, and understand the principles of food-and-wine pairing.

The Course Organization

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines consists of 30 hours of study, including 18 hours of training by one of our WSET-certified educators. The program takes place over 2 consecutive days, with classes from 9 am to 7 pm, including lunch breaks, study time, and an exam.

With 9 hours of training each day from a WSET-certified educator, the class will use presentations, discussions, and tastings to cover the key points in the teaching material. During the course, you will taste 44 wines from the main wine-producing regions of France, Europe, and the New World.

Sessions are limited to 14 students (a packed lunch is included in Pommard for both days).

The Teaching Resources

Once your registration for a session is validated, you’ll receive your course materials, which include a textbook, a study guide, self-assessment exercises, and a summary sheet of the Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®. The program includes presentations, discussions, and visual aids, as well as guided tastings and self-assessment exercises. The educator will answer your questions and encourage dynamic and interactive exchanges.

Evaluation And Certification

The exam takes place during the last hour of the course. To obtain your certification, you will have to correctly answer 55% of the 50 multiple-choice questions. You will receive your result by email about 8 weeks after your exam date. Your certificate and pin will then be mailed to you. You can retake the exam for a fee of 80 euros if you do not pass.

What are the course entry requirements?

This course is intended for anyone over 18 years old. It is recommended that students have some prior knowledge of wine (you can review sample questions for the WSET Level 2 exam in the Specifications).

Sessions are offered in Pommard, in French and in English.

Registrations close 17 days prior to the start date of the session or when maximum capacity is reached.

How to prepare for your WSET Level 2 Award in Wines?

Preparation for the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines requires at least 12 hours of advance study. You need to read the textbook and work through the practice questions in the Study Guide before the training starts. It is important to keep in mind the delivery time of your teaching material (sent within 3 business days after registration) and the required study time when registering for a session.
