This WSET Level 2 course takes place over three days. You will discover the main wine regions around the world and the grape varieties that are grown there. You will have the chance to taste 56 wines during these 3 days. At the end you will take the WSET 2 exam.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The WSET 2 is designed for beginners who aim to develop an expertise in wine. After three days of training, you will be able to work in the wine sector. This program is also intended for people who wish to undertake a professional reconversion.

What will I learn?

  • What factors influence wine style
  • The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics
  • The important wine-producing regions where these grapes are grown
  • The production of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines
  • Label terminology
  • Food and wine pairing principles
  • How to describe a wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine ® (SAT)
  • How we produce wine, following biodynamic farming at Château de Pommard

At the end of your training, you will be able to recognize the different styles of wine produced from these grape varieties, read labels and understand the principles of food and wine pairings.

How do WSET Level 2 classes work?

WSET 2 includes 30 hours of study, including 18 hours in the classroom, delivered by certified trainers. Our three-day course takes place from 9 am – 12 pm and 2 pm – 5 pm, allowing spare time for studying. Study material will be given to you upon registration, to get you prepared for your session. The material contains the essential points covered during the training, as well as tasting grids and self-assessment exercises. 

You will taste 56 wines produced in the most notable vineyards of the planet, from France to Chile via the United States, Italy, Spain and Australia including six wines from the Burgundy region.

Evaluation And Certification

At the end of the 18 hour course, you will be evaluated on the knowledge acquired during a closed book test. You will need to answer 50 multiple-choice questions in one hour. To graduate, you will have to answer 55% of the questions correctly and you will receive a WSET 2 certificate by post.

What are the requirements to enter the course?

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but you must be over 18 years old.

The sessions are held in small groups of maximum 14 students. At least 12 hours of self-study is required to pass your exam successfully. All our courses are available in French and in English.

École V is registered at RNCP. If you live in France, you can get your course financed by your CPF or by Pôle Emploi, depending on your professional status.
