POMMARD, FRANCE (October 5th, 2019) – Château de Pommard and Famille Carabello-Baum are proud to announce that the Clos Marey-Monge vineyard has officially received Organic Certification by a French certifier, accredited by the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality).

150 Million Years of History

Clos Marey-Monge sits atop the Avant-Dheune Valley Dejection Cone ; an alluvial fan that encourages ideal Pinot Noir-growing conditions to flourish. While the cherished terroirs of Pommard, and its 27 identified climats, have been cultivated and carefully preserved for thousands of years ; it is its history and the 150 million years of geology that lie beneath those famed soils that has contributed most to their enduring popularity.

Deep Roots

For centuries, dating back to the era of the Dukes of Burgundy, the Micaults, and the Marey-Monges, the co-ordinates of Clos Marey-Monge have long been adored by Burgundy lovers. Our ancient vineyard has laid deep roots in Pommard, roots that also stretch out throughout Burgundy. As we look to the future, we remain proud of this heritage. But we also look forward to putting down even deeper roots…
