About Mercurey
Mercurey is one of the most celebrated appellations in the Côte Chalonnaise, renowned for its predominantly red wines made from Pinot Noir. Established in 1936, it is the largest AOC in this part of Burgundy, producing wines that stand out for their deep color, fuller body, and rich notes of cherry, spice, and earthy undertones. These wines perfectly represent the region’s terroir, offering complexity and a unique character that has made them a favorite among wine enthusiasts.
While the reds dominate, the white wines of Mercurey are often considered a hidden gem. Comprising just 15% of the vineyard area, these whites are made from Chardonnay and remain relatively rare.
